Summer Syllabus 2017

20th August           Guided Tour of Stobs Camp                 Andrew Jepson
Meet at Galashiels library at 12.15, or 1.00pm at Stobs,

Directions to the Stobs Camp meeting point

The nearest postcode is TD9 9UQ.

To be more specific the entrance into the camp is from grid reference NT 506 100.

If you head south out of Hawick on the B6399 towards Newcastleton about 4 miles down you will pass Acreknowe Farm on your right. You will then pass pig huts in a field on your right and then more pig huts on your left.

At the next bend in the road you will see a War Memorial on the right hand side.

Turn right at the War Memorial & head up this single track road.

You will pass another farm on your right and will then drive under the railway viaduct. You cannot miss the viaduct! Further up you will pass a sign for Stobs Station House (on a gate) on your left. Keep on up the hill.

You will then emerge from the tree cover.

Go over a cattle grid and you should then see my car just on the left. It is a gold/bronze-coloured Volvo. This is marked as the 'Meeting Point' below. Park here, but please do not block the track way.
